In recent months, data breaches have taken news titles far more frequently than in the past. These news also cover the role of artificial intelligence in the attacks as  hackers are leveraging AI solutions in sophisticating their tactics.

According to data from consulting firm Oliver Wyman, ChatGPT has reached mass adoption faster than other mainstream technologies in the past.

This is not just ChatGPT; AI technology is used by everyone everywhere, from NLPs to autonomous systems. We are all doomed to walk down that road.

Do you think this willingness to quickly adopt AI technologies foreshadows an increase in fraud? Creativity in fraud and identity theft cases has already shocked us in the past few years.

A recent example of how fraud will be shaped in the future is the ‘Mother of All Breaches’. This is a data breach that took place a few months ago and was perceived as the largest data breach ever. Over 26 billion records were stolen from large entities, such as Twitter, Canva, Adobe, and LinkedIn.

This sensitive data provides threat for identity theft, cyberattacks, and unauthorized access to personal and sensitive accounts, which could only be stopped using AI technology.

Artificial intelligence provides the poison and its cure, for example:

• • Anti-phishing can spot spear phishing attacks.

• • Anti-malware stops hackers from sending malicious software.

Multi-factor authentication could be used to validate the person logging in, an example of this is face recognition or fingerprint that are on smartphones. Another technology is the anti-phishing that was previously mentioned above.
